Glass Sand Jar Wedding Favors

{Texas Craft House} Glass Sand Jar Wedding Favors

My husband proposed to me in Mexico using a spice jar that I had emptied and packed to bring sand home in. We chose to have a sand ceremony the evening before our wedding with our guests so that they could all take a glass jar of sand home from Jamaica to remember their trip and our wedding. It was fun to be able to share the story of our engagement with our guests and then give them a memory of their own with a glass jar full of sand. I also put these into the Destination Wedding Welcome Bags I gave my guests.

Supplies:

  • Glass Jars
  • Raffia
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Gorilla Glue
  • Small Sand Dollars

At first I planned on getting the same glass spice jar that I used for Mexico, but found this too inconvenient to do because there was no way I could go through that many spices. I ended up finding glass jars in Michaels that I thought were perfect. The raffia was left over from the wedding shower our families threw for us and the shells I found in Hobby Lobby.

I wanted to make the glass jars more 'beachy' so I wrapped the raffia around the neck of the bottles and hot glued as I worked my way to the top of the neck. Then I used gorilla glue (which I admit was probably over kill) to attach the sand dollars.
Here we are in Jamaica at our sand ceremony underneath the pergola that we got married under.
Hope you get inspired!
