Wine Cork Birdhouse

I save my wine corks all the time then I never use them. Are you the same way? I saw a picture of a wine cork birdhouse on Pinterest and I was instantly inspired. I looked on Etsy and saw many on there, too. Best part? It's pretty much free! All you need is wine corks and a hot glue gun (with lots of glue) and maybe a knife to cut through some corks (optional).

Feel free to use my Amazon suggested links below: {I am an Amazon affiliate which means if you purchase anything from my lists, I will get a tiny portion back. I only include things I personally have purchased and love!!!}

Supplies:

  • Corks I used about 120 corks
  • Hot Glue Gun (this cordless one is my favorite!)
  • Cardboard
This is the kind of craft I like... something you can take your time on, be creative and there is really no right or wrong way to go about it. The whole time I was making this I felt like I was a kid with Lincoln Logs again. I guess this craft can be considered the adult version? It's just as fun. Start with a pile of corks...

Here are my 4 walls and floor. On my front wall I made a little bird perch by cutting a cork in half and leaving an opening. Also my floor was the only one with 4 corks in length the rest are about 3.

Then glue your floor and walls together.

I ended up having to add an extra layer to the wall to make the wall reach the top.

Next I needed something to make the base of the roof. That's when I spotted a marker box. It was the perfect size! Just cut out the front/back of the box.

Glue corks onto the top. I folded it beforehand so it would be easier to work with.

Here is a picture of the roof on the birdhouse. I added a couple of corks to either side of the large cork in the center.

This was a lot of fun and very relaxing. Wine corks are fun to collect but they take up a lot of space. This is a great way to clear some of it out. I'm going to display mine on a shelf in one of the rooms of my home.

What have you made with your wine corks?
