DIY Metal Orb Decor

This weekend I was walking around the ribbon section at Hobby Lobby and found METAL RIBBON. That's right, you heard me right. METAL RIBBON. This stuff is beautiful! My mouth fell open and I think I even gasped when I realized what it was. They had several varieties (designs and widths) to choose from and the ones I picked up were $4.99 and 50% off. I knew right away that I wanted to turn the ribbon into metal orbs.

Supplies:

• Metal Ribbon
• Hot Glue Gun {This is my favorite cordless one!}
• Scissors

Here is the picture of the ribbon roll and the detail on the side. Isn't it gorgeous? It's love at first sight all over again.

To make the orbs just cut 4 strips of the metal ribbon, all the same length. Scissors worked perfect to cut through it and I had no trouble at all.

Then get out your handy dandy hot glue gun. And dab some on one end... when I say dab, I mean glob.

Then press and hold it against the other end piece for a couple seconds. You should have 4 complete circles now.

Lastly, fit the circles inside of each other one by one and adjust them accordingly. I planned on hot gluing pieces of this together but decided against it. We don't have any kids and I am planning on putting these on some shelves out of the way. They are fairly snug anyway so didn't think I needed the extra glue.

I am thrilled with how they turned out. Compared to department store prices, you can't beat how easy and inexpensive this DIY is... AND most orbs don't have that charming little detail along the metal like these. We are working on some floating shelves for my living room, I can't wait to display them as soon as they are up.
