Baby Shower Book Basket Gift

My sister, Cally, had a baby shower to go to for one of her friends. She wanted to give something special that would be useful for many years to come. Ww came up with this great baby shower book basket idea. This project cost her about $35.00 to make and is something that mom and baby can enjoy together for many years.

First, she went to Half Price Books and picked out/bought all the books she wanted in the basket. Don’t forget to check the clearance section. You might have to dig around but you can find some good books at great prices.

Here are some of her own favorites that she found to give in the basket.

After buying all of the books (about $30 altogether) she arranged them in a basket that we found at Goodwill for $1.00.

Then she took the blue ribbon she found at Michael’s ($5), searched for and followed a video on YouTube “How to tie a bow”, and then wrapped some extra ribbon all around the basket. Easy! You could add any ribbon (even burlap) or any embellishments that you want. Below is the finished product.

I think this gift turned out adorable. I love that it can be used for either gender and would even be great as a birthday present for a special child in your life.
A quick tip – If you go to a recycled bookstore to save money (new books are not cheap), make sure that when you are looking for books, that you flip through and check the front and back inside covers for any notes, writing or tears.
What have you gotten as a baby shower gift that you’ve loved?
