Making Canne Rosso’s Famous Mascarpone Dessert at Home

We love going to Canne Rosso in Dallas for their authentic wood-fired pizzas! Their pizzas are made with fresh in-house dough using “OO” flour. To make things better, their oven sits at about 900 degrees, making the wait for your pizza only a couple of minutes since they cook in about 90 seconds. You cannot go to Canne Rosso without ordering their famous dessert the “Pinche Julio.” This dessert is not on the menu so you’ll have to remember it’s name to order it. Recently, my husband and I were experimenting with recreating this dessert because we loved it so much.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Dough (Trader Joe’s)
  • Nutella
  • Mascarpone (Trader Joe’s)
  • Powdered Sugar

Heat your oven to whatever the packaging instructs. After spreading the dough out onto your pizza stone or pan let it sit for about 30 minutes to get to room temperature. I would then recommend baking just the dough for half the time listed on the instructions (so if it says bake for 12 minutes, put the dough info 6 minutes.) Once you’ve done that, spread the whole container of mascarpone evenly onto the dough.

Heat up some Nutella in a pan until it is melted to create a drizzle.

Use a spoon to drizzle it evenly all over the dough and mascarpone. Now bake it for the remainder of time listed on the instructions.

For the finishing touch, put powdered sugar all over, serve warm, and enjoy!

  1. Oh. My. Goodness. That looks divine! I love Nutella and I only just realised that of course it’s the same filling you get inside Ferraro Roche. I bet some chopped hazelnuts sprinkled over the top would be a nice addition. Thank you for sharing this.
