Looking for inexpensive bulk gifts? I teach kindergarten and needed something fun for kids that won’t break the bank for Christmas gifts. The past couple years my team and I have been making these adorable no sew fleece scarves. For about 6 yards you can make a class set of scarves that they LOVE and wear day after day.
The other teachers and I usually head over to Joann’s Craft Stores for our fabric because they have such a large selection. Most of the time you can find fleece on sale there for around 50% off which makes it an even better deal. For a class of 20 students you’ll need around 6 yards of fleece.
3 yards for the boys…
…and 3 yards for the girls.
The scarves are measured out by 8 inches long then cut into long strips.
This gave me about 13 scarves for each of the 3 yards of fabric. This left me with a couple more than I needed, but I like to have some extra just in case I get a last minute student or something happens.
The end of the strips I cut little slits. The best part about fleece is that when you cut it it doesn’t fray.
After making the slits I then tied them individually into little knots to add a finishing touch.
Here are the scarves completely finished and ready to be wrapped.
I know scarves might not sound that grand of a gift but the kids really do love them. I make it such a big deal beforehand and tell them that I looked for the softest fabric I could find then made them myself. They are so impressed and proud of these things that they wear them all winter long and sometimes even into the spring.
At less than $2.00 a student, you can beat this gift. It really doesn’t take much time at all to make them, especially if you have a helpful husband who is good at helping tie the knots.
These make great gifts, not just for students but families, church groups and any bulk gift for teams. It’s so much fun looking for the perfect fabric, too. Any time of fleece will work… blizzard, no-pill/pill, just go for it.
I love those no sew blankets. The scarves are a cute idea. I will need to make a soft one for my daughter!

Those are lovely. I’ve made something very similar for myself and my two boys, based on some lovely fleece blankets my sister-in-law made for each of the boys when they were born. What a nice gift for your students.
