Ruffled Lamp Shade DIY

It’s been pouring here in Fort Worth, Texas. Tropical Storm Bill made it through our area dropping 4″ – 6″ of rain through the DFW metroplex. Rainy days make for the perfect craft days. I turned an old lampshade into something fresh and new with a no sew way to apply fabric. You only need 3 materials, all of which I already had, and some time set aside to make this lovely little ruffled lamp shade.

Embroidered Burp Cloths

This past weekend I had the pleasure of going to a friend’s baby shower, I love shopping off of registries and buying a cute little outfit for the mom to be. This time I was determined to make a special gift, and I decided on embroidered burp cloths. My friend is having a little boy so I wanted to make burp cloths with little neckties on them.

DIY Vera Bradley Camera Strap Covers

For Christmas a few years ago, I made my little sister two camera strap covers for her Nikon DSLR camera. I went to JoAnn’s and picked a hounds tooth fabric that I knew she would love. I also got ahold of her favorite Vera Bradley pattern, Twirly Birds in Navy, by buying cloth napkins from the website. Naturally, I got the idea from Pinterest and used the tutorial from Priddycreations.com.

DIY Fabric Covered Vanity Stool or Chair

When we bought our first home the master bathroom was (and still is) gorgeous. The homeowners actually opted out of the jacuzzi, which comes standard in most homes now, and that left us with an open floor plan in the master bathroom. This includes room for a “his and hers” side of the bathroom. Mine has useful pull-out drawers (instead of cabinets) and a long vanity (I had always wanted one). Immediately I took to finding a vanity stool for my little pampering space… It wouldn’t be me without a little DIY.

Flower Rosette Tutorial for Tulle, Fabric, Burlap and Ribbon

Last week I showed you a “How to Make the Perfect Bow.” I figured out the secret trick by going to my local craft store, finding a pre-made bow and inspecting the craftsmanship. That same day I found some flower rosettes for sale… 3/$8.99. The lady shopping next to me looked at me funny when I started to gasp, take a picture and frantically text Elisabeth. $9 for a rosette was CRAZY! They are so easy and cost virtually nothing.
